A subscription to your newsletter is often the first point of contact with your new relationship. How do you create a registration form that is attractive, works well, and ensures a good 'start of your new relationship'? In this article, we provide practical tips.
1. Keep it short and simple
The fewer fields you ask for, the greater the chance that someone will sign up. If you only request the information you really need for sending your newsletters, such as a first name and email address, you increase the likelihood of a new subscription.
Tip: in the standalone and embedded registration form automatically generated in Laposta for each list, you can indicate for each field whether it should be displayed and whether it is mandatory. Check the documentation for the standalone form and for the embedded form.
2. Provide a clear benefit
Why would someone sign up? Offer a concrete benefit for your new subscriber, for example:
Receive exclusive tips weekly.
Get a 10% discount on your first order.
3. Use social proof
People trust other people more than your organization or business. Therefore, show that many others have preceded the new subscriber, for example by adding how many relationships have already signed up: “Already 5,000 people have gone before you.”
4. Make it visually appealing
A good design attracts attention and instills trust. Therefore, use a calm layout with enough white space. Also, add a catchy image that aligns with your brand, or place your logo for extra recognition.
Tip: you can design your forms yourself in Laposta. Check the documentation on how to adjust the design of the standalone registration form and how to adjust the design of the embedded form.
Not completely satisfied yet? You can also fully customize the form.
5. Write a thank-you note
When someone clicks the send button on your registration form, a thank-you page is displayed. Ensure that this page has a good message thanking your new relationship for the subscription and possibly reiterating what benefit this will provide your relationship. If you set up an automatic welcome email (see the next step), you can already inform your relationship about this on your thank-you page.
Tip: in the standalone registration form, you can also immediately redirect a relationship after subscribing to a page on your own website, here's how you can do that.
6. Create a confirmation email
After signing up, you want your new relationship to feel good about it right away. You can create a welcome email yourself in Laposta by setting up a simple automation for this. Thank your new relationship in it and tell them what they can expect in your newsletter. You may also offer an (extra) unsubscribe option in case someone accidentally signed up.
